FLY-TIPPERS are blighting a Huddersfield beauty spot.

The Examiner received these pictures of Longley Woods from a concerned reader.

Steven Priest, of the Friends of Longley Woods group, is involved in the endless clean-up effort.

He said: “We’re forever clearing up rubbish. These fly-tippers are spoiling it for everyone else.

“They know if they chuck their rubbish in the woods someone will shift it.”

The Friends have tried to improve the area since their formation in late 2003.

About six volunteers regularly clean up the woods, which are owned by Kirklees Council.

And Steven, who lives nearby, praised the council for their help.

He said: “Kirklees have been very helpful.

“In the winter they provide a skip every few months and we fill it up in a couple of hours.”
