ALMOST 600 children from Moorlands Primary School have entered the record books for blowing bubbles.

The pupils, aged four to 11, were among thousands of pupils from 300 schools nationwide, to smash the world record for the number of bubbles blown simultaneously.

Heavy rain failed to dampen spirits as children piled into the playground at exactly 11am armed with bubble blowers for the Gazillion Bubbles event.

Moorlands teacher and organiser Karen Stott said: “It absolutely chucked it down, but the sky was full of bubbles. It was an opportunity not to be missed. We thought as a big school we could make a difference to the total.”

The event had been organised by bubble fluid manufacturers Gazillion Bubbles and by 2.30pm yesterday they had confirmed that 30,000 bubbles had soared skywards with the final tally expected to pass the 40,000 mark.

Gazillion Bubbles are based at Cheam in Surrey.
