BOBBY Ball helped light up Holmfirth.

The comedian rode into town on a carriage drawn by four white horses as he led a procession through the village.

Hundreds of residents turned out to cheer the comedian as he switched on the Christmas lights and started the countdown to the festive season.

With 10,000 lights, Holmfirth was illuminated with colour, while 100 real Christmas trees were dotted around.

Visitors were entertained by bands and artists as they drank mulled wine and ate homemade mince pies.

Father Christmas paid a special visit and handed out early treats to children and watched as 1,000 balloons were released into the sky.

Bobby Ball, who starred in ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, gave a free concert at Holmfirth Civic Hall for the local Christian centre.
