An investigation has been launched after the bodies of two women were discovered in a Halifax home.

The women, aged 56 and 69, were discovered by police in a property on Fenton Road, King Cross, at 7.20pm yesterday.

Police visited the property following a report from a concerned member of the public.

It is not yet known how the two women died but a postmortem on both bodies is currently being carried out.

Det Supt Mark Ridley, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "We are investigating after the bodies of two women were found in a property in Fenton Road in the King Cross area of Halifax.

"Police were called to the address shortly after 7.20pm on Friday, April 18, to a report of a concern for safety for a person living at the address who had not been seen for some time.

"The bodies of a 56-year-old woman and a 69-year-old woman were found inside the property.

"Both deaths are currently being treated as unexplained pending the results of a post mortem examination."
