A MAN'S body has been found in a West Yorkshire canal after a narrowboat was found drifting with its engine running.

The vessel was spotted by a passer-by on the Calder and Hebble Navigation at Sowerby Bridge on Wednesday evening.

Police secured the boat and found a Staffordshire bull terrier on board, but no sign of the owner, thought to be Paul Burns.

Police divers searched a two-mile stretch of the canal and a body was found in the water near the boat yesterday.
