A FARMER was found dead after a search by rescue teams.

The 60-year-old was reported missing from his farm at Whitley Lower near Grange Moor.

Police called in specialist teams. Officers on horseback and the force helicopter also scoured surrounding farmland for several hours on Monday.

But the farmer's body was eventually found close to his home.

Holme Valley Search and Rescue Team leader Peter Phillips said: "We searched as far as we thought the farmer would go. His body was eventually found in part of the farmyard."

Police said that there were no suspicious circumstances. The farmer has not been named.

An inquest is expected to open at Bradford on Thursday.

The operation also involved Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team and the Search and Rescue Dog Association.
