A PAIR of bogus Kirklees Council officials conned their way into a house to steal cash.

The two men got into the home of a man on Roman Close in Mount at 4.30pm on April 2.

They claimed to be checking the water supply because a neighbour was having a washing machine fitted. Once inside, one of them started to check the taps while the other searched the house. They left with a quantity of cash.

Det Con Dave Kinghorn, of Huddersfield CID, said: “Always check the identification of any strangers calling unannounced. If in doubt, call the company they claim to be working for before you agree to let them in your home.”

The thieves in this case were both white, in their 30s, and about 5ft 5ins tall.

One was slim and wearing a grey baseball cap. The other was of average build.
