POLICE have found a bomb in Kirklees.

But they are stressing the find has nothing to do with terrorism.

Police swooped on a house on Firthcliffe Road at Six Lane Ends in Liversedge at 10.50am yesterday (Mon) after getting reports that a suspect device was there.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman confirmed this morning that a 30-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man had been arrested at the scene.

They were both still being quizzed today.

She added: "They were arrested in connection with the discovery of a homemade explosive device.

"Officers have conducted forensic searches and there was no evacuation of nearby properties.

"The Bomb Squad was called as is routine in such circumstances and assessed the device before carrying out a controlled explosion early yesterday evening at nearby playing fields.

"The full nature of the device is now being examined.’’

She stressed: "We would like to reassure people that there was no threat to people living in the area and at this time this is not being treated as a counter terrorism incident.

"It has nothing to do with recent events in London and Glasgow and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.’’
