A NEW sports and community centre is set to be built in Huddersfield.
Kirklees Council is paving the way after agreeing to plug a £200,000 funding gap.
Fields used by Moldgreen Amateur Rugby League Club will be upgraded in the scheme.
New changing rooms, a multi-use games area and community facilities will be built at Ridgeway playing fields, Dalton.
It will provide a big boost to the area, Kirklees Council's Cabinet heard.
Council deputy leader Clr John Smithson said: "This is an important scheme.
"It will provide changing rooms for the rugby club and community facilities that are much- needed in the area."
Kirklees Council is increasing its contribution from £50,000 to help the project to go ahead.
Sport England is putting in £600,000 and Yorkshire Forward regeneration agency will give £500,000.
