A YOUNG boy raised the alarm after a fire broke out in a Mirfield home.

The youngster spotted the fire yesterday morning at his family home in Parkfield Way.

Fire crews from Dewsbury and Mirfield were called to the house at 10.30am yesterday.

They found thick smoke pouring from the kitchen where a cooker had been left unattended.

A woman, in her 40s, was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Mirfield crew commander John Jackson said the woman’s son saw the fire first, closed the kitchen door and told his mum.
