Two 16-year-old boys have been stabbed in the town centre today.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning outside Huddersfield's Parish Church.

Det Insp Seth Robinson of Kirklees CID said the incident occurred at 2.30am in Byram Street.

He said the two lads were taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment for their injuries.

They have since been released, he said.

They both suffered superficial wounds to the abdomen.

Two local men aged 22 and 23 years old were arrested immediately following the incident.

They are now in custody, Det Insp Robinson added.
