A Bradley man will tomorrow appear before a judge accused of the murder of an Elland man.

Robert Lyn, 45, of Huntingdon Avenue was arrested and charged after the body of Daniel Campbell was found at an Elland address on Friday night.

Lyn looked dishevelled when he appeared before Calderdale magistrates this morning, and nodded acceptance of his name, address and date of birth and that he understood the charge.

The brief hearing at Calderdale Magistrates Court in Halifax lasted just one minute as prosecutor Lisa Beadle said: “This matter can only be dealt with at the Crown Court and he’s not suitable for bail.”

Lyn’s defence solicitor, Kara Firth, told magistrates she had nothing further to add and Lyn was remanded in custody until Tuesday morning to reappear before a judge at Bradford Crown Court.

As he was led away by a dock officer Lyn nodded in recognition of his family members who sat in Court One.

Family members of Mr Campbell were also in court for the brief hearing, but sat on the other side of the large courtroom with a police family liaison officer.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that Mr Campbell was aged 38 and died from multiple stab wounds.

They found Mr Campbell’s body at Elizabeth Street in Elland, an end terrace property where police forensics officers spent the weekend gathering evidence in the tragedy.
