BRAVE football fan Ross Charles was treated to a festive surprise when he attended Town's home game against Bury yesterday.

The 11-year-old, who has had seven major operations, had an ambition granted - thanks to the Examiner and Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table's Christmas Wish Campaign.

He met the team - including his favourite player, Jon Stead, along with manager Peter Jackson - before kick-off.

"We were only too pleased to help when we heard about Ross. He is remarkable," said Jackson.

Ross, of Dalton, was born with his bladder outside his body and was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary for surgery when he was just three hours old.

Since then, he has undergone many hours of surgery. He spent three months in hospital this year after reconstructive surgery.

His mum, Tracey Livingstone, of Harp Inge, said: "Ross has adapted to whatever life has thrown at him. He's a lovely boy and really easygoing.

"His illness bothers me more than him."

Ross, who goes to Raw- thorpe High School, has two sisters, Kimberley, 20, and Kayleigh, 16, and a brother, Ryan, 13.

Although he cannot take part in many sports he remains positive about life.

His grandmother, Mrs May Milner, of Kirkheaton, said: "He's suffered so much pain and will be like this all his life. He's such a brave lad."
