It’s the bridegroom’s moment to shine – so imagine how one forgetful husband-to-be must have felt when he realised he left his speech in the hotel room!

The newlywed’s speech was just one of the more unusual items found by staff at the Travelodge hotel in Leeds Road, Huddersfield.

Another forgetful family left behind their passes to get into Malton theme park Flamingo Land.

And, bizarrely, one green-fingered guest left behind their lawnmower!

Other items left in Huddersfield’s Travelodge include an old picture of Huddersfield Town’s former Leeds Road ground; a cricket bat and pads; a bag of Huddersfield Giants shirts; a pair of binoculars and a pair of Hugo Boss shoes.

Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said: “This year’s lost and found inventory list has revealed some new unique items being left behind.

“Our 2014 left behind register also revealed how much smart technology has become a part of our everyday lives, as we have had 12,000 tablets and smartphones left behind in our hotels in the last 12 months. This is a significant increase from previous years.”

The top 10 most popular items left behind in Travelodge hotels during 2014 include:

· Chargers for phones and electronic devices

· Mobile phones

· Books

· Laptops / tablets / kindles

· Clothing

· Toiletry bags and contents

· Teddy bears

All items left behind in Travelodge hotels which have not been claimed within three months are donated to local charity shops.
