JACK Carroll had an audience of celebrities in stitches this week.

The Brighouse High School pupil was this week presented with a Pride of Britain award for the Teenager of Courage.

The 14-year-old comedian, who tells gags about his cerebral palsy to challenge attitudes to disability, had celebrities cracking up backstage, too.

Jack revealed that he’d had a hilarious exchange with Alan Carr after the Chatty Man presenter, alongside Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Melanie C, handed him his award.

He revealed: “Alan said, ‘Jack’s got funny bones’. And I said to him, ‘It’s actually called cerebral palsy, Alan’. I thought that was pretty good.”

Quick-witted Jack then left professional comics in his wake as he cracked joke after joke at the awards.

At the show’s after-party he swapped banter with his comedy heroes, who included Jimmy Carr, Paddy McGuinness and John Bishop.

And he was typically quick off the mark the next morning when asked who was the funniest person there: “The funniest? Me.

“Seriously though, to have all these brilliant comedians telling me I was funny was... weird. So hopefully I’ll have lots of work lined up.

“I’ll be needing my own agent. I had a picture with Stephen Hawking, the cleverest man on the planet, and I was serenaded by Rolf Harris. It was a brilliant night.”

Jack lives in Hipperholme with his sister Megan, 11, and parents Sue and Michael.

He was surprised at his home by Jimmy Carr who popped in to tell Jack he’d won an award, saying: “I hear there’s a young man here who thinks that he’s funnier than me.”

Stunned Jack replied: “Oh Christ,” to which Jimmy replied: “No, it’s just me.”

After hearing he had won a Teenager of Courage award, Jack said: “If I can laugh at myself and make people laugh, maybe they will not be scared to talk about disability.”

Jack was an internet sensation two years ago when his gig at his parents’ wedding anniversary got 10,000 YouTube hits.

He’s got more than 1,700 followers on his @fatjacko twitter page which includes his idol Alan Carr, who tweeted that Jack “stole the show” at the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain awards.
