SPEEDING motorists in Calderdale beware!

Police checks have revealed the roads where drivers are most likely to break the speed limit.

And they’re planning ad hoc visits to carry out further speed checks.

Lower Valley police has identified Towngate in Brighouse as a particular trouble spot, with the average motorist hitting 43mph in the 30mph zone.

Drivers on Saddleworth Road in West Vale were clocked doing 53mph in the 30mph zone.

Other roads where the speed limit was broken were Laverock Lane, Lightcliffe, and Oldham Road, Ripponden, where the maximum speed was 43mph.

The results were compiled by Calderdale’s Road Safety department and West Yorkshire Police.

A spokesman for Lower Valley police said: “The hotspot areas will definitely be visited by officers over the coming weeks. Be warned.”
