FAMILIES have been urged to go on a canal walk to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The Leeds to Skipton Canal Walk takes place on Sunday May 22 along the historic Leeds to Liverpool Canal.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the British Heart Foundation which is dedicated to saving lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information.

Millions of pounds have been invested in the West Yorkshire region, including £5.3m on research labs at the University of Leeds, since the start of 2006.

People can walk any distance and in any direction from three to 29 miles.

Entry for the event is £10 for adults and £5 for children.
