GENEROUS builders gave £1,000 to a Meltham couple who ran a half-marathon for charity.
Angela Evans and her husband Phil live next door to the new Hargreaves Homes development at Sunnybank Mills, Sunnybank Road.
They approached the firm for sponsorship and were delighted when they were promised the huge amount for Mencap.
Also pictured with the cheque are Hargreaves homes sales adviser Caroline Leathwood and residential development manager Paul Miller.
Mrs Evans said: "My husband and I have competed in several smaller runs before, but this was the first time we had attempted the Great North Run."
"We hoped to raise a small amount of money for Mencap and were thrilled when Hargreaves Homes offered to sponsor us £1,000 - it was beyond our wildest dreams!"
Gerry Sweeney, of Hargreaves Homes, added: "We were happy to support local residents in their hobby and delighted that the money will be going towards a good cause."
