ORGANISERS are pulling out all the stops to make this year’s Golcar Lily Day the biggest and best yet.

On Saturday, May 14, the streets of Golcar will be filled with stilt walkers, jugglers, belly dancers, face painters and balloon modellers.

There’ll be bands, beer tents and barbecues, as well as morris dancers and even a white rabbit.

The event has grown every year since it started in 2007. This year the organising committee has published a bumper 24-page programme packed with information on the activities and attractions.

The event will be opened by Golcar Scout Group, which is celebrating its 60th birthday this year.

Colne Valley Museum, Cliffe Ash, will host special events to mark the occasion as well as its own 40th anniversary. There will be a guided ginnel walk from Church Street at 2pm.

Six churches in Golcar, Scapegoat Hill and Bolster Moor will be taking part, as will Golcar Junior and Infant School.

The pupils have enthusiastically entered into the competition to create a superhero for Golcar.

Full details are in the programme, which is available from local shops.
