A road has been shut due to a burst water main.

Wolfstones Road in Upperthong will remain closed until Yorkshire Water contractors can complete work to repair a ruptured pipe on the adjoining road Wickins Lane.

The burst occurred on Monday night but the company’s engineers managed to adjust the water supplies to ensure that customers living nearby were not affected.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We apologise to anyone who has been affected by the closure of Wolfstones Road in Upperthong.

“Our contractors are currently repairing a burst water main in Wolfstones Road, near to the junction with Wickins Lane.

“The water main will be repaired and Wolfstones Road will be opened by the end of today.”
