HUDDERSFIELD has burst into bloom!

Thousands upon thousands of spring bulbs have come into flower with the advent of sunny, warmer weather.

And they have created vivid splashes of colour in several parts of the town.

Thousands of blue and white crocuses - chosen to show support for Huddersfield Town - were planted last November as part of the Kirklees Council Greener, Safer, Cleaner scheme.

Now they are in full flower around the Civic Centre Phase III building and on Bradford Road.

Leisure Services parks staff planted some 100,000 bulbs along the central reservations in the renovated stretches of the busy Bradford Road, from Fartown Bar to the Bradley Bar roundabout.

A further 63,000 were planted out around the civic buildings.

And parks staff are hopeful 40,000 daffodils planted at the Ainley Top roundabout will bloom fully within days.
