A BUS watch group has been set up to keep track of passengers' complaints.

The group has been set up by three fed-up Kirklees Labour councillors who say complaints are being shrugged aside by bosses at First Bus.

Clrs Susan May, Molly Walton and Annie Smith intend to maintain up-to-date dossiers of complaints from the public of when buses don't turn up or are late.

In a statement, the three said: "It is becoming increasingly clear that First Bus are not taking effective action on complaints from individual councillors - and at times treat us with contempt.

"Therefore, we are going to work as a group, co-ordinate complaints, and show them we mean business."

As a first move, two meetings have been arranged with First Bus commercial director Graham Riley.

The public have been invited to the meetings.

They will be held next Monday and Wednesday at Huddersfield Town Hall, between 2pm and 4pm.

The councillors said: "We urge as many people as possible to attend, r otherwise the bus company will not take us seriously."

The councillors said routes they had specific woorries about included the 327 and 328 between Bradley and Huddersfield and the 380 and 384 from Huddersfield to Brighouse.

"The main problems are that buses don't turn up, come late or miss out parts of the route," they said .

"Some people have kept a log of when these problems occur.

"But despite us contacting First Bus management almost weekly as individual councillors there is no improvement," added the councillors.

Mr Riley was unavailable for comment.
