A BUS company says it will axe one of its services if road humps are built in a Huddersfield street.

Passengers will be left high and dry if they lose the only daytime route in Long Hill Road, Brackenhall.

Bosses at K-Line said they were unhappy with the number and the height of the humps being proposed.

John Whiteing, the company's stage carriage manager, said: "If this goes ahead, it's not a threat that we will withdraw the service - it's a promise."

The 360 service linking Brackenhall with the town centre and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary runs every 30 minutes during the day.

Council chiefs want 10 flat-top road humps and two mini-roundabouts in Long Hill Road.

K-Line says its buses have been damaged going over similar humps in other parts of Huddersfield.

Drivers on the routes are more prone to back problems, says the company.

Mr Whiteing said: "We have already suffered enough in Newsome Road and we don't want that here."
