Little Ted and his cuddly companion Tiny Tess are travelling the world in a bid to raise stroke awareness.

The woolly teddies are being taken on their travels by staff from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital.

The workers from the hospitals are then sending Teds’ selfies from around the globe.

So far they have been photographed from Sowerby Bridge to Dubai with a trip to Las Vegas and Wembley to boot.

And an epic journey to Siberia is in the pipeline.

Everywhere they go the bears have stroke symptoms reminder FAST attached to their – which stands for Face, Arms, Speech and Time.

So far more than 38,000 lives have been saved by early recognition of symptoms so patients get treatment at the earliest point.

Stroke care sister, Andrea Moore, said: “FAST has been a huge success.

“It was a very strong, visual campaign which people remember which is what we want. Recovery from a stroke is much more possible now and a lot depends on how early treatment can be accessed.

“Teds’ travels have been a fun way to spread the message and it is successful due to the enthusiasm of all the ward team and Facebook friends.

“And with Little Ted leading the way even more will be saved.”

The teds can be followed on Facebook on “How far can the little teds travel?”

A competition is being held at the end of May to guess the miles travelled and the prize will be….. a Little Ted.
