A NEW system of running voluntary services in Calderdale is set to be introduced.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet will on Monday consider a recommendation to award the contract for the delivery of voluntary sector infrastructure services in Calderdale to North Bank Forum.

North Bank Forum is a Yorkshire-based voluntary and community sector umbrella organisation. It works with a number of local authorities.

Voluntary sector infrastructure services support the whole voluntary and community sector. The remit includes running training courses, fundraising information, one-to-one mentoring and advice and access to learning resources.

There will also be support for volunteering, providing a contact for people interested in volunteering but not knowing who to volunteer for, advising organisations who use volunteers, promoting and encouraging volunteering generally.

Calderdale Council’s Leader, Clr Tim Swift, said: “There has been a very detailed and robust tender process which has looked in detail at the strengths of each of the organisations that have bid to provide this important support to the local voluntary and community sector.

“The voluntary sector is an important partner for us, and it is really important that we provide the strongest support we can to them in these challenging times.”

The contract will start in April 2013.
