A PARADE of the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellington’s) will take place in Halifax.
The special homecoming parade is taking place in the town centre on Tuesday, December 4.
The Regiment has already held a similar parade in Huddersfield.
People are encouraged to line the streets to show their support, respect and thanks to the troops following their return from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The parade and church service will also honour four Huddersfield soldiers who were killed serving their country in Afghanistan this year: Cpl Jake Hartley, 21, of New Mill, Pte Anton Frampton, 20, of Longwood, Pte Daniel Wilford, 21, of Cowlersley and Pte Tom Wroe, 18, of Meltham.
The parade starts from the Shay Stadium at 11.40am with more than 400 soldiers, the military band and mounted police marching to the Piece Hall.
At 12.30pm, the Battalion will march from the Piece Hall to Halifax Minster for a homecoming service at 1.30pm. It will honour the troops and remember the soldiers killed in action. The parade will make its way from the Minster at 3pm back to the Shay Stadium for a civic reception.
There are expected to be road closures from the Shay Stadium into the town centre.
