SPORTS centre charges in Calderdale are rising by about 10%.
The council says it has been forced to increase admission to leisure facilities to protect services.
And the increases, announced yesterday, will come into force in just over two weeks.
A 12 month Active Lifestyles membership will increase by over £28 from £281 to £309.10 with increases also applied to monthly Direct Debit prices.
The price of a swim will rise from £3.50 to £3.90 for adults and £1.90 to £2.10 for under 16s.
Gym sessions will go up from £4.10 to £4.50 and hire of a squash court will go up from £7.80 to £8.60.
Clr Pauline Nash, Cabinet member for communities, said: “When Cabinet consulted people they told us that they were prepared to see an increase in charges for leisure activities in order to protect services to our more vulnerable residents.”
