A CHARITY group in Emley got the naked truth about fundraising!

The fundraisers were given a pep talk from one of the veterans of the famous Rylstone WI calendar to inspire their own efforts.

But the ladies of Emley have revealed they won't be stripping off!

Beryl Bamforth, 73, one of the stars of the original nude calendar, visited the village to talk about the success of the project.

Mrs Vilma Dyson, one of the members of the Emley Fundraisers, said: "There's a scene in the Calendar Girls film where Helen Mirren says she'd need bigger buns.

"We'd need bigger everything, never mind bigger buns, if we took our clothes off for a calendar.

"And there'd certainly be more laughing than crying."

The Emley group, which has raised many thousands of pounds over the years for various charities, has chosen Leukaemia Research this year.

That was the charity selected by the Rylstone WI in North Yorkshire when they produced their calendar featuring saucy shots.

Mrs Bamforth, who was Miss January in the original calendar, is one of six members who have again posed naked for a 2007 calendar, which is expected to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for the charity.

She spoke at a meeting in St Michael's Church about the enormous worldwide success of the WI efforts, which spawned a hugely-successful film and prompted copycat calendars all over the country.

Mrs Dyson said: "We raised £3,000 last year with our appeal and we hope to beat that this year for leukaemia.

"We always pick charities who help people in this area and we will be having a number of events throughout the year."
