PEOPLE with a visual impairment are being invited to a meeting tomorrow.

There are at least 500 people with a visual impairment in South Kirklees, and all are invited to come along.

The invitation comes from the Visually Impaired Persons Support Group. Last year Jean Goodison and Bernadette Kielty met with councillors and Kirklees officers and handed over a petition calling for action.

They want to see the council establish a centre in south Kirklees specifically for the blind and visually impaired.

They say there is currently a significant lack of resources.

At the meeting at the Methodist Mission, Lord Street, Clr Margaret Bates, the council's cabinet member with responsibility for social services and Margaret Watts, council partnership manager will be attending.

The meeting starts at 2pm. More information from Jean on 01484 542320 or Bernadette on 01484 530682.
