MELTHAM residents are demanding action against speeding drivers.
Villagers have handed in a petition to Kirklees Council, giving their concerns about speeding traffic and recent accidents on Slaithwaite Road.
They want speed restrictions between the junction with Golcar Road and the junction with Blackmoor- foot Road.
Kirklees highway safety manager Chris Platts spoke to Meltham Town Council about the issue.
He said there was not enough information to decide on any traffic-calming measures yet.
Officials will study traffic speed and volume on the road before making any recommendations.
Mr Platts said the petition would be passed to Kirklees Council's Cabinet.
He added: "Until we have done the studies I don't know what the likely answer will be to the problem."
