A man lost his temper and punched a computer screen as his best friend chatted to his girl friend.

Cameron McKay, of Holme Park Court in Berry Brow, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.

Kirklees magistrates heard that the incident happened at the flats on September 14.

A Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing employee was working in the security office when McKay came in and confessed to smashing the computer screen.

An arrangement was made with police to offer McKay a caution on the condition that he paid to fix the damaged computer.

When the 22-year-old failed to do so he was prosecuted.

His solicitor Bob Carr said: “He’s in a room with his girlfriend and his best friend when he was chatting to his girlfriend.

“He (McKay) lost his temper and punched the screen of the computer that his friend was working on.

“Mr McKay went straight to the security office.”

Magistrates ordered him to pay £304.50 compensation to the local authority.
