CAMPAIGNERS fighting to raise awareness of eating disorders spent two days spreading the word at the University of Huddersfield.

Families of Eating Disorder Sufferers (FEDS) in Kirklees had a stand in the foyer of the Harold Wilson Building.

They were there for two days last week.

The campaign is part of Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

The Huddersfield-based group, led by Cherie Hinchliffe, were selling cookies and buns to raise cash for B-eat, the UK’s leading eating disorder charity.

The charity is running a ‘Sock It To Eating Disorders’ campaign – so the cookies sold were sock-shaped.

The university stands also included real-life stories of eating disorder sufferers and their families.

Cherie said: “We have been very well received. Hopefully we can help people.”

FEDS Kirklees has also been boosted by news that Holmfirth High School will donate £1,000 from a non-uniform day last week to the cause.

FEDS plans to buy special educational resource packs for all high schools in Kirklees.
