HELPERS are needed to keep a vital sociable group going.

Members of the Huddersfield Contact the Elderly group meet once a month for what they say is ‘something to look forward to’.

But the elderly members are struggling to get about as they have a shortage of drivers.

Mary Robinson from Contact said: “The Huddersfield group has just celebrated it’s first anniversary and is making a real difference to people’s lives and everyone enjoys the experience.

“A member said recently ‘When you are old you can become a non-person, but Contact has changed that’. It is life enhancing for all concerned.”

The group meets at the homes of different hosts for afternoon tea one Sunday a month. It gives them the chance to get out of their own homes and meet other people, but they are in urgent need of drivers who can spare around four hours to collect members, take them to a tea party and return them home again.
