A cannabis farm with plants covering two rooms has been discovered at a property in Newsome.

Officers swooped on a house in Ing Lane following a tip-off from Kirklees Council that a number of plants had been found at the house.

Around 20 to 30 fully-grown plants were found which were near harvest.

A 32-year-old man, from Huddersfield, has been arrested on suspicion of production of a Class B drug and released on bail pending further enquiries.

PC Saul Spencer said: “Thanks to partnership working with Kirklees Council, we have prevented a significant amount of cannabis from potentially being sold on our streets.

“We will act on information from both partner agencies and members of the public about the production, sale and use of illegal drugs in our communities and would urge anyone with concerns or information about such activity in their area to please make contact.”
