MODEL car racing fans are in for a treat at Greenhead Park, Huddersfield on Sunday.

About 30 enthusiasts will be lining up their model cars for an afternoon of racing.

It will go ahead on a specially prepared track on the grassed area between the bandstand and playground.

The race meeting has been organised by park warden Balvinder Sidhu with the help of model car enthusiasts he has met in the park.

The track and trophies are courtesy of Kirklees Council.

Balvinder said: "These cars can reach 60 miles an hour, so it will be a very exciting afternoon."

The racing starts at noon and will last about two hours.

The track area will be cordoned off for safety.
