A MOTHER-of-three whose son has severe epilepsy has been honoured for her hard work.
Pauline Spencer, 59, of North Hill Drive, Kirkheaton, has cared for her son, Daniel Fox, 33, all his life.
Now, she has been honoured as one of just 10 carers in the UK to get the Epilepsy Action Branch Members of the Year Award.
The Epilepsy Action charity picks 10 special carers every year from thousands of members.
For the past 12 years, Pauline, of the Huddersfield branch, has also been helping other families cope.
She said: "I am an accredited volunteer, which means that if someone in the area rings the Epilepsy Action helpline they will be put in touch with me.
"Because I have a lot of experience in dealing with the condition - and my family has had to cope with it - I want to give some reassurance to others."
Daniel has never been able to work.
But Pauline, who has two other children - Nigel, 39 and Kay, 37 - said things had got much better.
