YOUNGSTERS in Shepley have been collecting toys for Christmas presents for children in poverty-stricken countries.

Pupils at Greyfell Academy - a private day nursery - have donated some of their toys to be sent to youngsters in developing countries.

The Greyfell children have included the toys in shoeboxes full of clothes and gifts, which will be sent to children in countries like Africa by Samaritan's Purse.

The charity runs the Operation Christmas Child appeal, which asks people to pack a shoebox full of aid as a Christmas gift to a poverty-stricken child.

The Greyfell shoeboxes will be sent abroad with Operation Christmas Child this December.

Louise Stocks, deputy manager of Greyfell Academy, said: "We decided the children should be made aware that some children are less lucky than themselves."
