YOBS torched three cars on a Huddersfield housing estate.

The vandals set fire to three cars, 100m apart, on Roundway estate, Honley, at around 12.15am yesterday.

Neighbours on the estate alerted the fire service after hearing what sounded like ‘gunshots’.

The cars, including a Vauxhall Astra and a Nissan Almera, were gutted by the fires.

Crews from Holmfirth armed with powerful hoses extinguished the blazes shortly after 1am.

One Roundway resident said there had been a spate of vehicle vandalism on the estate last week.

A parked car on Jagger Lane was attacked on Friday morning while her husband’s Ford Transit suffered a broken windscreen when it was targeted by yobs the following day.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “I thought I heard four gunshots. At the bottom of Roundway three cars were on fire. We thought it was disgusting.

“It looked like the windows had been put through and something set alight. The police asked us if we’ve upset anyone but it’s just wanton vandalism.”
