A 26-year-old man will appear in court today charged with soliciting murder during protests against cartoons satirising the prophet Muhammad.

Uman Javed, of Washwood Heath Road, Birmingham, is also accused of using words likely to stir up racial hatred. He was charged yesterday and is to appear in custody at Bow Street Magistrates' Court in London.

Javed was arrested after protests outside the Danish Embassy in London on February 3.

Abdul Rahman Saleem, 31, of Mellish Street, east London, has been charged with using words likely to stir up racial hatred. Omar Zaheer, 26, of Derwent Road, Southall, west London, was charged with racially aggravated disorderly behaviour.
