A MAN was shot as he withdrew money from a cash dispenser.

The 22-year-old had just got the money out at the petrol station at Alpine Corner in Honley when he felt a sting on his left thigh shortly after 10.15pm on Saturday.

The petrol station was shut at the time.

The victim got in his car and drove away.

However, he then realised he had been shot and went to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Surgeons operated to remove a pellet, which is being examined by police.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Huddersfield CID, said: "We would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area close to the petrol station on Saturday night, or knows who is responsible, to come forward."
