A MASSIVE £262,917 is to be divided between 37 arts groups across Yorkshire.

And Huddersfield is to receive a slice of the cash.

Andy Carver, Yorkshire regional executive director of Arts Council England, said: "These awards are for arts activities of the highest quality, enriching the lives of people who live in this region.

"We are investing in the wealth of talent of our artists and arts council."

Holmfirth group The Figment Theatre Company is to receive £1,163 to develop new training techniques, which seek to bring about change in people's lives.

And the group gets a further £9,425 which will be put towards an emotional health and wellbeing project for touring in schools.

Deighton-based group Fresh Horizons has been awarded £6,000.

The money will be used to improve the annual Deighton Carnival.

Andy said: "The fast growing creative industries sector is important to the prosperity of this region and arts council investment is supporting this."
