GOLCAR Lily Day has benefited from a £600 hand-out.

Telecommunications company O2 gave the event the cash as part of the It’s Your Community programme.

The money will pay for plaques to mark out the new Golcar Ginnel Trail – an historic walk through back lanes that were regularly used by weavers.

Sue Star, one of the organisers for the annual celebration day of Golcar’s history, which will be held on May 9, said: “We can now mark the history of our village permanently with a map, along with plaques to mark the entrances to the ginnels.

“This will be of benefit to visitors and villagers alike for years to come.”
