Students at a special school have had a send-off fit for royalty.

Year 14 students at Castle Hill School in Berry Brow enjoyed a ride in a limousine and decorated buses before being treated to lunch, an awards ceremony and disco.

Dan Pearce, assistant head at the specialist school, said: “Everyone was dressed in their finery.

“It’s our year 14s who are leaving and we have 14 of them leaving us this year.

“They loved the ride in the limo and have been enjoying the day.

“I’m sure it will be emotional for everyone at the end of the week when they leave us. Some of them have been here since they were aged three or four so it will be emotional, especially for families.”

Castle Hill School is a special educational needs (SEN) school for pupils aged three-19-years-old.

Some of the young students will head to Kirklees College, others to day care centres such as Waves in Slaithwaite.
