FIRE officers took to the water to rescue a cat in Rastrick. They responded to a plea for help from the RSPCA. The cat was stranded on a branch beneath a road bridge at Bridge End, above the Calder and Hebble Canal. Crews from Elland and Brighouse used an inflatable sled to get to the bridge. The cat, which had been stuck for hours, was handed over to the RSPCA.
