Cats are in even safer hands now a leading charity has extended its reach.

The Halifax, Queensbury and Brighouse Branch of Cats Protection now covers all Huddersfield postcodes, from HD1 to HD9.

As such it has been renamed Halifax and Huddersfield, although Queensbury and Brighouse are still within its boundaries.

Cats Protection is a charity that not only fosters and rehomes cats but helps owners on benefits get them neutered.

Its Halifax and Huddersfield branch is made up of 14 volunteers who last year helped rehome 52 cats and provided financial support for neutering to 150.

Branch co-ordinator Helen Penrose is keen to encourage people to get involved with helping the charity.

“Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would be of benefit or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge,” she said.

“Our volunteers gain a great deal of satisfaction helping cats get a second chance in life and meeting like-minded people along the way.

“We work hard to match people’s skills, interest and time availability to the roles on offer, so if you think you have something to contribute, please get in touch.”
