A new arrival has sparked special cause for celebration.

For the birth of Corey Jack Barratt has created five generations of one Huddersfield family spanning nearly 80 years.

Corey was born at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary five weeks ago to 18-year-old Taya Barratt. Her mum is Tracey Walsh, 38. Great-gran is Margaret Israel, 55 and great-great grandma is 79-year-old Audrey Booth.

And they all live close to each other in Golcar and Longwood.

Tracey said: “It was really exciting and different welcoming Corey into our family. It is so special being five generations.

“We are all very much in contact and it’s good.”

As for actual celebrations Tracey said: “We have nothing planned just yet as Corey is so young, but we will be sorting something out.”

Great-great gran Audrey Booth is delighted at her new status. “I think it must be quite unusual to have five generations all together and it’s lovely.

“We are a big, happy family and it’s wonderful that we all live nearby so we can keep an eye on each other.”
