A CHILDREN'S centre in Huddersfield is set to open in September.
Preparations are being made after building work finished at the site in Dryclough Road, Crosland Moor.
The building is called the Sure Start Links 4 Children's Centre.
It has been paid for by Government money channelled through the Sure Start Links 4 partnership, which covers Crosland Moor, Thornton Lodge, Lockwood and Walpole.
It is one of five Government-funded Sure Start partnerships in Kirklees.
They aim to increase childcare facilities, improve health and education of children and support parents trying to find work.
The centre has been built on the site of an annexe of Thorton Lodge Nursery School.
The 24 three to five-year- old pupils formerly housed in the annexe will be catered for in the new centre.
The centre will have 52 places in total, for children aged three months to five.
Amanda Jackson, Sure Start Links 4 programme manager, said: "The completion of this building is a major step towards providing more services for families with pre-school children.
"We hope the community will find the building welcoming and soon think of it as their own."
