THE swimming pools at Huddersfield Sports Centre reopened today.
The move is ahead of schedule, following the completion of £80,000 improvements.
The pools closed on December 27 and reopened for children's pre-booked swimming lessons.
A full timetable will be in operation from tomorrow, when the doors will open at 7.30am for a public swim.
The pools remained closed after the Christmas break for essential repairs and maintenance in the pool hall.
Work included the installation of new water tanks, grouting of the pool, improved baby changing facilities, new pool filters and the replacement of lighting.
Dolphins, the sports centre's nursery, reopened last Monday after refurbishment work which included a new quiet area, where children can lay down and sleep.
Staff are hoping to attract many swimmers back to the sports centre. Many have been going to the Stadium Pool, during the temporary closure.
The sports centre had been criticised by swimmers for the shabby state of its decor.
Operations manager Sarah Flanagan said: "I'm delighted to be able to welcome our swimmers back.
"I'd like to thank all our customers for their patience during this work.
"I'm sure they'll notice the difference."
