A busy roundabout next to the M62 is to be reduced to a single lane this weekend to allow for emergency repairs to a water main – and the work will take until next Tuesday.

Drivers are being advised that Chain Bar roundabout at junction 26 of the M62 near Bradford will be reduced to a single lane to allow for emergency repairs to a water main which may mean major problems for commuters on Monday.

Contractors for Yorkshire Water will at Chain Bar next to junction 26 carrying out essential repairs to the water main which supplies water to 9,000 people in the surrounding area, from 8pm on Friday (June 24) until 6am next Tuesday.

The roundabout and all approaches will be reduced to a single lane so that work can be carried out safely.

Highways England Project Manager Esref Ulas said: “We understand this work is going to cause some significant congestion at this busy junction in particular on Monday but it is essential Yorkshire Water fixes the water main to avoid any significant damage to the road surface.

“We would advise drivers to avoid the area if they can or allow extra time for their journeys while this work is carried out. We would like to thank drivers for their ongoing patience.”
