PEOPLE living in Kirklees are being given the chance to enrol on a free painting and decorating course.

A recruitment event for those interested in taking the diploma takes place at the Hudawi Cultural Centre tomorrow.

It will provide information about the course, which will run for two days a week over 37 weeks and starts mid-November.

It is available to all residents aged 19 and over who are unemployed and receiving benefits.

No previous qualifications or experience are necessary.

Build, a purchasing and labour initiative for the Kirklees construction industry, is offering the training through the b-best project. The project is funded by Yorkshire Forward through the Kirklees Skills Investment Plan.

Clr Ken Sims, Cabinet member for regeneration, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for people to come along and find out more about this industry and decide whether they would like to apply for training.”

The event starts at 10am prompt. For further information contact build on 01484 223846 or email asif.patel@kirklees.gov.uk
